Going to racecourses and enjoying a nice day watching horse races and placing bets while having fun with relatives and close friends can be the best way to spend your weekend. To be as comfortable as possible at the course, you need to know what to wear. Dressing for a horserace gets even more important if you are attending a full-day race, since your level of comfort determine just how much you can enjoy the race and focus on betting.

If you will be attending the race at the club house, it would be best to go with formal attires. Jackets and ties are required for men, while ladies should go with a semi-formal to formal dresses. Make sure you are wearing a comfortable pair of shoes, since you will be standing most of the time and wearing uncomfortable high heels can be quite painful after a while.

When you are sitting on the Grandstand, you can simply go for more casual attires. You still need to wear shirt and trousers or skirts, but some racetracks allow you to wear jeans and trainers as well. Make sure you bring a jacket with you just in case you are attending a race in a rather cold weather.

When you are at the Silver Ring, you can dress casually all the way. Jeans and t-shirts are acceptable. Most of the time you can even bring a rug with you and have a nice picnic while enjoying the race. All in all, make sure you are comfortable with what you are wearing.

Rankings are among other factors considered important in horse racing. For bettors, rankings are simply a factor they can’t afford to neglect, since these rankings generally depict a horse’s condition and potentials. The World Thoroughbred Rankings is definitely the rankings you should look into when you are serious about enjoying horse racing or placing bets in the sport.

The World Thoroughbred Rankings is compiled by the panel of handicappers or racing secretaries affiliated to the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA). The rankings are considered to be the most effective and accurate because there are a lot of different people giving valuable and objective input to the list.

Formerly known as ‘World’s Leading Horses’, the rankings are produced and compiled by the World Rankings Supervisory Committee before being published by the IFHA. Each horse is monitored closely throughout different events, with the addition of several non-race events that might influence the horse’s form. The information gathered will then be used to compile proper rankings.

You can find several sites posting recent updates on the rankings, but the best place to go to check out the latest top horses is British Horseracing Authority’s site. The current board leader, the Sea the Stars, is topping the rank with 135 rating points. Goldikova is second with 130 rating points, while Rip Van Winkle is third with 129 on his last rating. Use these ratings properly with other additional information to support them, and you will be able to pick the winning horse a lot easier.

The 2009/10 Jumps season is definitely an exciting one, with several potential horses showing superb performances in several events. If you love to place bets on horses, check out a couple of potential horses that you should pay close attention to. These horses are showing spectacular performances this season.

Kauto Star is the first horse on our list. Trained by Paul Nicholls, this particular horse is showing superb performance at this season’s Betfair Chase on 21st November. He beat Imperial Commander by a couple of inches at the event for one of the best finishes this season. His track record so far is winning Three King Georges, two Gold Cups, two Tingle Creek Chases, and two Betfair Chases; this is a potential horse indeed.

Following Kauto Star’s superb performances closely is Master Minded, also trained by Paul Nicholls. Although the 2009 season is definitely not his best, he is showing a lot of potentials and can be the one who master most events this season. His form is improving greatly and his level of endurance is also increasing, making him one of the best chase-winner candidates available.

Of course, our list will never be completed without this season’s rising star: Imperial Commander. Said to be one of the best candidates for the 2010 Grand National, Imperial Commander is showing great performances the past couple of events. He managed to push Kauto Star to the very limit at the Betfair Chase, but he still has a lot of potentials hidden under his superb form.
